Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 12:38 PMWORLD PEACE: meaning, people who are friendly, sharing, communities, dancing and singing in the streets, abundance for all, fruit trees and gardens everywhere, fair trade, communication, positive resolve of conflict without violence, funky clothes!
Street musicians on every corner!
Organic food as the ONLY option.
Everybody free to be themselves on the street, everywhere, topless, whatever... kinda like Black Rock City, but EVERYWHERE. -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Mon, February 18, 2008 - 7:21 AMI vision peace, love and understanding(sorry was on a John Lennon roll, more Perfect Circle being that I have the CD). I do wish for peace, love and community though. I too long for the only option to be organic and natural foods. The kind that is raised and cultivated only with love. I wish for us all to run naked, free, without sexual misconceptions getting in our way. I wish for beautiful mother nature to breathe again and heal from all our selfishness, ignorance, and neglect. I wish that all cars become eco friendly and solar energy is part of our everyday life. I'm reaching for a no waste lifstyle and hopefully others too. I wish that all bodywork step down from unconnected, competitive, money grubbing, politically interfering ways, to become non clinical real true universal love and healing. I wish that more people loved, cried, screamed, danced, drummed, stomped, whatever it took to shake their pain away, in order to free our world from war. I want eccentric to be part of the norm, and people and music be accepted from all cultures. I wish that everyone let their light shine in hopes to liberate others from their darkness. Is all this to much to ask....?

I came across this talk on facebook, sustainability group. It is a bit slow to start but i love his ideas for cities. i always imagine cities reclaiming green spaces and producing food, becoming cleaner, large solar powered green houses........anyways seems like it is possible, is it? -

ABSOLUTELY! I dream about cities the same way... rooftop gardens, little patches of lawn transformed into gardens and mini-orchards. Water catchment tanks to hold rainwater that comes pouring by the gallon from gutters all over the city.
Keep dreaming sister, our visions are coming to life. :) -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 5:41 PMHas anyone read the book Ecotopia by Earnest Callenbach? It fell into my hands by coincidence...it's very interesting.
I am currently working on my dream of entering nursing school so that I may help those that are ill or in pain feel better, or prevent people from becoming ill or in pain, or maybe to bring babies into the world in a kinder gentler way...for Moms, Babies and Families....
Today however the dream seems far far away...if at all possible...
This is a good time to bring our dreams to light and focus on them with the evergy of the eclipses -

YES! And when I read it, I thought "Did I write this in my most previous life?" Cuz seriously, I was vibin' with almost everything he wrote. Like, hey, that's MY vision of the future too!
Let's do it! -

Tue, February 5, 2008 - 6:04 PM"Who is gonna print the bumperstickers?"
The problem with bumperstickers is you need cars to display 'em! And cars are SO 20th century! -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 6:32 PMPut the bumperstickers on our man/woman-powered bicycles.
I picture the hanging gardens of Babylon meets modern eco-urban planning.

If we keep it to ourselves, don't worry, people will catch on quick. :)

Wed, February 6, 2008 - 1:27 AMwell, this would be a start:
people.tribe.net/lola-la-l...644cc67a04
and i like all of your ideas.
but i kinda think we have to go back to smaller communities where everyone knows everyone and you could trust your neighbour to watch your kids and leave your doors unlocked and see the direct results of the everyday work that you do. -

Oh I totally agree with you there. That way we can get back to a smaller, more intimate, close-to-Earth existence. Without having to commute 30-40 miles to go to work... nope, you just hike a few miles, or ride your bike, and if you're hungry or thirsty, just pop by and visit your friend's cabin...
Sounds great! And I LOVE that photo. :) One day owning a car will be a social stigma, rather unhip... kinda like getting plastic bags at the store because you don't have a reusable one. -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 1:03 AMI so have dreamed of this day. Being a loving community. Everyone sharing their precious gifts in order to keep things flowing. I read a book called "Mutant Messages Down Under" about the aborigines and how each one contributed by using their own special gift. After they mastered their gift(hunter, leader, medicine man/woman, etc.) they would master another. It was beautiful. I dream of having a new age clan that creates a safe container to express ourselves in any way. Babies being born in your neighbors hands, and food shared from your fellow bretheren that worked hard harvesting all summer to provide for their community. I dream that the healers provide touch and wisdom and the others in return provide clothes, food, warmth and love in return. I could easily live in a trade community. We need to go back to that wholeness, the world is very separated right now. -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 6:55 AMMe: Virgo Asc, Conj Uranus and Pluto.
6th house Sun, Mars, Saturn.
I have a grand earth trine, including my Taurus Moon. This trine creates a kite, the focus of which is Venus conj. Chiron in Pisces, 7th house....
I am hoping to help, and am trying to get my feet under myself so that I can be of utmost service to others...I dream, but I am intent on doing what I can to make these dreams a reality.
This too, is my goal >Babies being born in your neighbors hands, and food shared from your fellow bretheren that worked hard harvesting all summer to provide for their community. I dream that the healers provide touch and wisdom and the others in return provide clothes, food, warmth and love in return<
I dreamed of this as a child and somehow lost touch with those dreams, but they have certainly resurfaced and are my focus!

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 10:59 AMYes yes yes! Mutant Messages Down Under blew my mind.
There are more and more people desiring this type of life. But how do we unplug from our current lives and move into something so different from what we know? That's the challenge.
But we're up to it! It's what we were born for!
Keep writing, keep dreaming, keep talking about the visions. WE ARE IN A TIME NOW WHERE PEOPLE ARE RECEPTIVE!!! People are ready to hear these ideas, and to begin implementing them. We just have to plant the seeds, feed their ideas. Visionaries need to team up with Manifesters, and work in harmonious alignment.

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Mon, February 18, 2008 - 12:07 PMquality, equality, progress, and beauty...
a set of speakers that were built by people who cared about what they were building. buildings that make sense and don't neglect aesthetic quality... no more cookie-cutter housing developments and strip-malls. food grown and prepared by people who love doing it. people being appreciated for doing what brings them joy. new and alternative technologies supported and made available because they're good for us and the world instead of being left to rot because it's not "profitable". everyone being appreciated and receiving their fair share for their contributions to our culture. ideas being shared. people talking to strangers. relationships that break limitations rather than enforce them. diversity. progress and happiness as the gauge of profit. free expression. -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Tue, February 19, 2008 - 9:22 PMYou all give me hope. You're so right on.
Great minds think alike. Now we've gotta implement. I think we need some Capricorn's on board for that!!! :) -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Tue, February 19, 2008 - 11:34 PMActually Virgos would be helpful for design and process.
And Taurans for their touchy-feely aesthetics.
Dang, those Earthies! I have no Earth and so I've never really understood 'em... until now... I see that Earth is VITAL if Air is gonna alight down.
Aeries are good with carrying whispers of ideas on the wind. And how we've got to, as Visionary Leaders, engage our Fiery Sistren to eloquently impassion the Earthy brethren and make sure there are a few Watery type around to moisten us with the depths of pure emotion.

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 10:57 AMAh, but the path towards global telepathy would be VERY challenging.
Imagine if you walked down the street and everybody knew your thoughts. "Ew, look at that homeless guy." "Wow, that lady is fat."
Yeah, no matter how conscious we consider ourselves, our thoughts still move around quickly with judgments. Imagine if I judged someone and had to walk right up to them and apologize. Now that would be incredibly challenging!!! -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Sat, February 23, 2008 - 7:07 PMHow about common courtesy and mutual respect
it seems if thats not the basic then all else is just a smoke dream
all you have to do is go to whole foods market and see all the people with global plans but they fail to implement them in the way they drive or their incosideration when they block a whole aisle acting self-indulgence
world plans start with the individual -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Sun, February 24, 2008 - 9:44 AM"How about common courtesy and mutual respect "
Good point.
And you know, I'm gonna make a weird confession here: Ok, I totally want community living, shared community spaces (with private, personal living quarters), and a generally more community and family kind of life.
BUT I am really painfully shy. Like, it's horrifying for me to go introduce myself to neighbors and strike up a chat. They're nice people, but I'm so shy! How am I supposed to build community around me when I'm scared to talk to people around me?
The big reason could be because I don't feel like we're on the "same vibe." If my neighbors were happy hippies, I'm sure we'd be hanging out all the time. But I set up my own judgment and separation... and this sucks... because I want community so badly....
alas...... so much to learn in this life. -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Sun, February 24, 2008 - 10:56 AMI read this small generalized description of aquarians the other day...
AQUARIUS, The Water Carrier: Aquarians fall into two categories: (1) shy, gentle and sensitive, and (2) lively and extroverted. Both types are honest, strong-willed and hold strong convictions. Both types require regular respites away from everyone else, allowing them opportunities for reflection. On the negative side, Aquarians can retreat too much into their own world and sometimes have bouts of temper.

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Sun, February 24, 2008 - 7:05 PMI have the similar judgement issues. I very much long for community yet I purposefully detach myself from others. In the past my philosophies have greatly annoyed people. I am seen as an idealistic earthy crunchy anarchist. I think I've come to reality that most people do not care about themselves, others, or the world. Now it is about connecting with those who do. We can spend to much wasted energy an others who are stubborn and fear ridden. I feel they are only inhibiting themselves from growing. Those who dream big are seen as unrealistic idealists. I figure at least I have dreams. I can only hope that the community I help to build will eventually rub off. There are some days I want to say fuck it all! "Why do I fight so much for clean waters, food supply, and peace no one else cares", but that attitude got us in this mess, and will continue to even further if I don't fight for freedom. -

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Sat, March 1, 2008 - 11:39 AM"I very much long for community yet I purposefully detach myself from others."
I can relate... I'm 30 and finally starting to feel able to really get involved with a group. I always got involved... but usually with so many different groups that I didn't have time to really focus on any one of them. I was all over the place. And usually got involved with just a few people in each group. It's hard for me to really feel completely a part of any one group. I spent a couple years volunteering and interning at an art gallery. Got really involved, and it felt good.

Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 10:01 AMFor me, the best place to start is with cultural practices that value people going inside and evolving on their own. When people raise themselves internally, it's easier to become autonomous and figure out things that benefit all.
I'll just put my email sig from Ken Wilber, as he explains it better than I do:
"Gaia's main problems are not industrialization, ozone depletion, overpopulation, or resource depletion. Gaia's main problem is the lack of mutual understanding and mutual agreement in the noosphere about how to proceed with those problems. We cannot rein in industry if we cannot reach mutual understanding and mutual agreement based on a worldcentric moral perspective concerning the global commons. And we reach that worldcentric moral perspective through a difficult and laborious process of interior growth and transcendence."
-- Ken Wilber, A Brief History of Everything
If you've never read integral theory, I highly recommend Wilber. A Brief History of Everything is a great place to start. Dense and complex, but an excellent model for evolution both of the species and us as individuals. Boomeritis is a fun, fictional version of these theories as well.
Another one of my favorite visionary books: Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy. I love her utopian future. Just one idea, quickly: in the future, humans have decided that in order for men and women to be truly equal, women have to give up their ability to bear children. As such, all children are test-tube babies. Each child born has three parents, any combination of men and women. Two of the three parents are given hormone shots, so they can nurse. When the child decides s/he is old enough, s/he goes off on a vision quest. When the child comes back, s/he is not allowed to talk to her/his parents for three months. This is done so that when they do begin interacting again, the parent/child bond has been interrupted, and the parents and the child can now relate to each other as adults.
She also says that one of the few things oil is used for is doing the dishes, because everybody hates doing the dishes. Similarly, every human being does admin work for 6-12 months during their lifetime, because no one likes that sort of work! Oh yeah, and you get a sabbatical every 7 years (like college professors). -
-
Re: OK Visionaries, what's yr Vision?
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 3:20 PMGreat Ken Wilber quote! Yes, I'm in agreement there.
We can't just change the world because we feel fear of pollution, or whatever. It has to be because we feel a strong imperative from deep inside, an urging from our souls, showing us the oneness of the web of creation, and that in the very core of our beings we understand this and act that way too.
