Aquarius Horoscope for December 2008

As the month opens, you'll be ready and eager to partake of holiday festivities. You had many career developments in November and may have made a number of important decisions. Happily, by the time you get to early December it will be time for play. If you haven't already received a number of intriguing invitations, they should surface soon and you will have lots to gain by circulating and making new friendships.

A very encouraging new moon appeared in your friendship house a few days prior to the start of December, on November 29. That was a darling new moon, for it communicated with several other planets in a very friendly way. Think of a new moon as a window of opportunity that opens for a two-week period. The choices you make and events you attend in that time span, involving friends, clubs you belong to, and charities you will get involved in, will affect your whole year to come.

Be open to new faces and cultivate new friendships. New people will introduce you to even more people as you go along - and with 2009 showing a potential for enormous personal growth, you will want to make as many new friends and acquaintances as possible. Those people will expose you to new ideas and interests, and help you with your goals in a way you've not seen in a long time.

Also, Mars will light your house of friendship until December 27, a sure sign that friends will surround you and that you will have a really good chance of having fun. Last year at holiday time Mars was lighting your workaday sector, a trend that lasted months, from the end of September through early May. Alas, last year you were doing some gruelingly hard work at the office, so if you had a chance to attend parties, you probably arrived a bit worn to the bone.

Thank goodness this year will be different, dear Aquarius. Astrology reveals that the universe is built upon principals of symmetry and balance, and this year will be your turn to have fun. You deserve it, and more importantly, you need it.

Some new moons are friendly and some are not - the new moon at the end of November will act like a fairy godmother who is there to answer many of your wishes. Mars, the action planet, arrived arm in arm with that new moon last month, a sure sign that your social life would get a big zap of adrenaline in early December.

Mars loves to communicate with his lover Venus, so when the two are in compatible signs, you always do well socially. That's not easy to achieve, but that WILL happen this month.

Venus will move into Aquarius on December 7 and remain in your sign until December 31. Wow! Having Venus in Aquarius as you go through the holiday season will be a big plus to your popularity, for Venus will make your charms much more apparent. If you've ever felt invisible (and who among us has not?) Venus will make sure you are in the spotlight and receiving lots of flattering attention.

Moreover, Venus will be in a lovely angle to Mars, now in highly compatible Sagittarius. Venus will be in an air sign - yours - and Mars will be in a fire element. Air makes fire burn brighter. Mars is the sign of passion and sexy allure - need I say more? You really have a nice chart, dear Aquarius.

If your birthday falls on January 25, plus or minus five days, you will receive a double dip of pleasure in the first nine days of December. These aspects are so sweet early in the month that all Aquarians will have reason to be excited by the holiday season.

Money has been a troubling issue all year, particularly in March, September, possibly October. Now, on December 5, Uranus and Mercury will bring you some sort of development you would rather not hear and increase financial stress. This seems to be only the tip of the iceberg, because later, a more troublesome phase may surface, first on December 10, the date the Sun and Uranus will have an argument, and more so when the moon is full, December 12, plus three days.

I am so sorry to have to report that news. Everyone, of every sign, will notice turbulence at this time of the month. You will see world events and news will report tension, too. Don't throw up your hands however - I see some encouraging news later in the month, so stay with me. Let me first describe the full moon in a little more detail.

That full moon will be in hard angle to Uranus and Saturn, and in wide opposition to Pluto. You may find that you want to participate in a beautiful social event that will be too expensive for your budget, causing you intense frustration. Planets will square off one another, and their lack of cooperation to each other will bring you more of the same. As we say, as above (in the heavens), so too below (here on earth).

If you are dating, you may see certain character traits in your partner that make you upset at this time. If you are attached, you may hope for your partner's support and sympathy to get you through this, but that seems not to happen. Alas, your partner's distant, unsympathetic attitude seems to take you by surprise, and make you even more upset. Expect little or no help from a close partner and you won't be disappointed.

There is one other possible way this full moon may work out in your life, and that may have to do with your children, if you have a child or are pregnant. Your concern about money may enter into an important decision you need to make now, but in this case, see if you can find the answer before you give up. Often there are many more ways to solve a problem than what we immediately see, so spend a little time thinking about the situation from different angles.

The fifth house, to be so lit up at this full moon December 12, also rules creative projects, so there is one other possible manifestation. If you are currently working on a creative project that is nearing completion, unexpected cost overruns that prove unavoidable could suddenly shoot upward, leaving you frantic. I am not sure why, but it appears you would have to foot the bill for many, if not all, of those costs. In this case, your agent or business partner would be of no help to you and that reality seems to upset you as much as the main situation itself.

Still, the situation has its upside, too. The full moon will fall in Gemini, a sign that blends beautifully with yours. This indicates that despite the stress, you may be able to find answers to deal with some of the challenges that come up.

Thankfully, this full moon will fall early enough in December so that it will not affect your spirits for the holiday. Indeed, by time you get toward the end of the month, your attention will have moved on to happier subjects.

If your birthday falls on February 9 or within five days of this date, you will feel the pressures of this full moon directly, but you will also be the best equipped to deal with the matter at hand. If you sit in a quiet place, you may come up with truly imaginative solutions.

The universe will never test you without giving you all the tools you need to cope with that problem. Sometimes we become so emotionally involved with the problem that we don't see the good solution that is almost literally staring us in the face, so be sure to slow down and really think. The answer is there, dear Aquarius.

As I mentioned earlier, you may get some near-miraculous news about money in the last week of December, so keep hope alive, dear Aquarius! You may want to circle the following dates on your calendar:

First, December 24, when a surprise check or very generous gift will arrive for you that will take your breath away, thanks to Mercury and Uranus in perfect sync. All news should be good news!

On December 26, a decision you make concerning your finances and debt turns out to stabilize things in a very comforting way. This would be an excellent day to sign a contract.

On December 31, a confidential meeting you have would work out beautifully. Who will you choose to see?

Here is something else to consider that should give you cheer. Late month on November 27, Uranus, your ruling planet, finally turned direct after having been retrograde since June 27. During that five-month phase, it may have been hard for you to see progress in your most important endeavors and relationships. If you feel as though you have been pushing a boulder up a hill, you now know why.

A retrograde planet is a planet that's sleeping and not exerting strong, supportive vibes, so you cope as best you can. You may have made progress, of course, but considering how hard you were working toward your goal, it likely was not progress big enough or fast enough to suit you.

The good news is that Uranus will move at a strong, sure, direct speed from now until July 1, 2009, giving plenty of time to make tracks. You will love the change! Perhaps you have already noticed a quickening of the pace, particularly in regard to your career and important relationships, and in other areas that matter to you. If not, you will see gratifying progress soon, as early as January and February.

Now let's look at the last third of December. A rather extraordinary migration of SIX planets to Capricorn will begin to build on December 21, and this energy will only increase as you get to the end of the month. Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, is about to leave Capricorn. Many planets are moving toward the constellation of Capricorn to give Jupiter a proper farewell.

Among the guests to join Jupiter in this cosmic party will be the Sun, new moon (as of December 27), Mars, Mercury, and Pluto. Saturn is on assignment in your financial sector, but is beaming gifts of stability. Uranus will be on assignment elsewhere too, and will send gifts of innovation and creativity.

With so many planets gathering in your twelfth house, your intuition will operate at uncanny levels, so in late December, keep your own counsel rather than rely on others' advice. This will be true in all cases, even should you need to act in the light of very little information. Listen to your gut, and move forward.

With so many planets in your twelfth house you can now toss off old habits you no longer want to continue and rehabilitate your mind, body, and spirit. If you want to give up a habit that has proven very difficult, see if you can find a coach or other person to help you.

Keep in mind that December is the only month of 2008 where no planets will be retrograde, although Saturn will turn retrograde in the afternoon of December 31. (Mercury is due to retrograde January 11. For now, you have an open road!)

You may hear of a friend or relative who is in the hospital in late December, or you may decide to go in for a medical or dental procedure yourself. Actually, with Jupiter moving through your twelfth house, you have no reason to worry, for you can expect fine care from medical personnel in any type of care facility, whether it be a hospital, rehab center, dentist's office, nursing home, or physical therapy center. Many people schedule procedures for this time of the year because it is a time that affords lots of privacy and rest.

Romantically, single Aquarius may have a hot blind date that actually clicks this month. Ask friends to make an introduction for you, and schedule your meeting over coffee for Monday, December 1.

Once Jupiter, planet of happiness and good fortune, moves to Aquarius on January 5, 2009, for the first time since 1997, it will launch you into your very best year in over a decade. Your love life should zing in a way you've not seen in a long time - or ever!

2009 should positively dazzle for romance. If you are single and hoping to meet someone new, there is an excellent chance that you would meet your true soul mate soon. If you are in a relationship that has become a bit tired that you would like to revitalize, that too will be possible.

You will be crowned the celestial favorite of the entire zodiac in 2009, erasing memories of the terribly hard difficulties you experienced from 2005 to 2007.

Jupiter will remain at your side to support you in every way until January 17, 2010 - a full year! Indeed, the coming year will be your true wonder year. Next month I will go into detail about how you can use this amazing energy to your advantage. For now, we need to keep focused on December.

As you get closer to the holidays, the social activity will simmer down, and you will be more in the mood for a quiet, reflective holiday. The twelfth house encourages deep thinking, so imagine what you would like to accomplish in your glorious year to come. You now are standing in the wings, about to go on stage. The curtain will go up on January 5.
